ABOUT KILIMANJARO’S MACHAME ROUTE
This path traverses the entire Shira Plateau, offering a delightful and relatively flat hike from west to east. Compared to other routes, the Lemosho Route maintains lower levels of congestion until it merges with the Machame Route near Lava Tower. Although a relatively newer route, it presents distinct advantages that make it a compelling choice, especially for travellers with extra time to spare. Embarking from the Londorossi Gate on the western flanks of Mount Kilimanjaro, the Lemosho Route guides adventurers through one of the more secluded sections of the mountain. Enveloped by a captivating rainforest, hikers may even catch glimpses of wildlife along the way. The forest teems with black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, small lizards, and a diverse array of birds. Subsequently, the trail leads to the expansive Shira Plateau, where hikers can effortlessly traverse its west-to-east expanse on terrain that is both gentle and straightforward.
The initial stages of the Lemosho Route provide ample solitude, as this path sees significantly fewer trekkers compared to the Machame and Marangu routes. These views remain unparalleled and cannot be observed from any other part of the mountain. Day to Day Experience
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha. Take this day to rest, acclimatize, and prepare for the exciting adventure ahead.
After breakfast, we drive to the Lemosho Gate, where we complete the necessary registration procedures. From there, we embark on our trek through the lush montane forest. The trail gradually ascends, providing a pleasant introduction to the diverse flora and fauna of the region. Our first campsite, Shira 1 Camp, offers magnificent views of the surrounding landscape, including the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro.
Leaving Shira 1 Camp, we continue our journey towards Shira 2 Camp. The trail takes us across vast expanses of moorland, characterized by low vegetation and volcanic rocks. As we gain elevation, the landscape becomes more open, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Shira 2 Camp will be our resting place for the night.
Today’s trek presents a challenge as we ascend to the Lava Tower, a prominent volcanic formation standing at an elevation of 15,190 feet. This provides an important acclimatization opportunity for our bodies. Afterwards, we descend to the Barranco Camp. The descent allows us to regain energy and prepare for the following day’s adventure. Along the way, we are treated to stunning views of the alpine desert landscape.
After breakfast, we conquer the famous Barranco Wall, a thrilling rock scramble that requires careful navigation. This challenging section rewards us with remarkable views of glaciers and valleys. Continuing along the southern slopes of Kibo, we make our way to Karanga Camp. Here, we rest and prepare for the next day’s adventure.
Leaving Karanga Camp, we embark on a short but steep ascent towards Barafu Camp. The landscape transitions into an otherworldly alpine desert, with sparse vegetation and rocky terrain. Barafu Camp, situated on a rocky ridge, serves as our base camp for the summit attempt. We rest and prepare for the challenging ascent that awaits us.
Today is the highlight of our journey as we embark on the final push to the summit, Uhuru Peak. Starting in the early hours of the morning, we make our way up the steep slopes, navigating through scree and icy patches. As we reach the summit just before dawn, we are rewarded with an awe-inspiring sunrise and a sense of accomplishment. After celebrating our achievement, we begin our descent to Millennium Camp, where we spend the night.
Our final descent takes us through the lush rainforest, offering a pleasant change from the higher altitude landscapes. As we make our way down, we reflect on our remarkable journey and cherish the sights and sounds of the vibrant rainforest. At Mweka Gate, we receive our summit certificates and bid farewell to our mountain crew. From there, a vehicle will transport us to Mweka Village and onward to our hotel in Moshi.
Today marks the end of our unforgettable adventure on Mount Kilimanjaro. After breakfast, we bid farewell and our team will transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure. You can depart with a sense of accomplishment, cherished memories, and the knowledge that you have conquered one of the world’s most iconic peaks.

Airport Pickup:

For larger groups, we have a Safari Land Cruiser, which offers ample space for both passengers and luggage. Our experienced driver will safely transport you from the airport to your hotel in Arusha, whether it’s the Gran Melia Hotel Arusha or Mount Meru Hotel Arusha.
Trek Day:
On the day of your trek, we will arrange transportation from your hotel in Arusha to the starting point of your chosen route. We utilize a private Coaster shuttle bus, which provides a comfortable and convenient mode of transport. The shuttle bus is spacious, allowing you to relax and prepare for the exciting adventure ahead. Our experienced driver will ensure a smooth journey as you head towards the base of Mount Kilimanjaro, ready to embark on your trekking expedition.
After Trek:
Upon completing your Kilimanjaro trek, we will arrange transportation from the mountain back to your hotel in Arusha. Our private Coaster shuttle bus will be waiting to pick you up and transfer you safely and comfortably. You can relax and reflect on your incredible achievement as our driver navigates the scenic routes back to your accommodation at either the Gran Melia Hotel Arusha or Mount Meru Hotel Arusha.
Airport Dropoff:
When it’s time to bid farewell to Tanzania, we will arrange transportation from your hotel to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure. For airport drop-off, we offer both the Toyota Alphard and Safari Land Cruiser, depending on the number of clients and their respective transportation needs. Our reliable driver will ensure that you reach the airport in a timely manner, allowing you to catch your flight with ease.
