CLIMB KILIMANJARO

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is an amazing adventure that requires determination and the will to get to the summit. With 5,895 meters (19,341 feet), Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa, the tallest freestanding mountain in the world, and one of the Seven Summits.

The snow-capped peak of Africa is a dormant volcano located inside the Kilimanjaro National Park of Tanzania. Mount Kilimanjaro has three distinct volcanic cones: Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira. Uhuru Peak is the highest summit on the crater rim of Kibo, which is part of the giant stratovolcano known as Mount Kilimanjaro.

The formation of this mountain began a million years ago due to the outpouring of lava from the Rift Valley area. While two of its three peaks, namely Mawenzi and Shira, have become extinct, Kibo, the tallest peak, is dormant and has the potential to erupt in the future.

The last major eruption occurred 360,000 years ago, but the most recent activity was recorded 200 years ago. Kilimanjaro has 2.2 square kilometers (0.85 sq mi) of glacial ice and is losing it quickly due to climate change. The glaciers have decreased by 82% since 1912 and declined by 33% since 1989. Within 20 years, Kilimanjaro might be ice-free, dramatically affecting local drinking water and crop irrigation. To climb Mount Kilimanjaro, you have seven routes to choose from, each with varying scenery, difficulty, traffic, and altitude acclimatization points. The Marangu route is the easiest and takes only five days to trek, making it the best option for inexperienced climbers. However, the Machame route is the best for adventurers seeking the best views in Kilimanjaro.
