Karafuu is a 10-day Zanzibar escape that offers a full-circle journey through the island’s best regions: from the historic charm of Stone Town to the beachside beauty of Paje and the coral-studded waters of Nungwi. This well-rounded itinerary is perfect for travelers who want a longer, deeper, and more balanced holiday. You’ll explore local history, dine by the ocean, swim with dolphins, snorkel, and still enjoy long hours of beach relaxation.
Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Zanzibar
Upon landing at Zanzibar Airport, you’ll be welcomed by our local representative and transferred to Maru Maru Hotel in Stone Town. After checking in, take time to relax or enjoy your first evening in the vibrant, historic capital. Dinner will be served at the hotel, and you’ll enjoy a peaceful overnight stay.
Day 2: Stone Town Walking Tour + Spice Farm Visit
After breakfast, you’ll set out for a guided walking tour of Stone Town. Walk through narrow alleys lined with carved doors, explore the Slave Market, Old Fort, House of Wonders, and more. It’s a perfect way to understand the cultural heart of Zanzibar. After lunch (on your own), continue to Kizimbani Village for a guided Spice Farm tour. You’ll touch, smell, and taste spices and fruits that define Zanzibar’s reputation as the “Spice Island.” Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Paje Beach
This morning after breakfast, you’ll leave the bustle of Stone Town and head east to Paje Beach. After the 1-hour transfer, check in at SBH Monica Zanzibar. Spend your day relaxing on the pristine beach or enjoying the hotel’s pool and amenities. Meals are included.
Day 4: Leisure Day + The Rock Restaurant Visit
Spend your morning soaking up the sun or enjoying a swim. Later, visit The Rock Restaurant — known for its unique location on a coral rock surrounded by the sea. Enjoy a meal with stunning ocean views (at your own expense). Afterward, return to your hotel to unwind.
Day 5: Leisure Day at Paje Beach
Enjoy a full day at your own pace. You can book optional water sports, explore the village, or simply relax with a cocktail in hand. It’s your day to recharge and enjoy the Indian Ocean breeze.
Day 6: Safari Blue Full-Day Tour
After an early breakfast, head west to Fumba Village to begin the Safari Blue experience. Board a traditional dhow and cruise through Menai Bay. Enjoy multiple snorkel stops, sandbank relaxation, and a seafood BBQ on Kwale Island. Explore the hidden lagoon, swim in turquoise waters, and return by sail if winds allow. You’ll be transferred back to Paje for your overnight stay.
Day 7: Transfer to Nungwi Beach
Leave Paje behind and travel north to Nungwi Beach. This scenic 1 hour 40 minute drive will bring you to a new side of the island known for its calm, swimmable waters and evening beach life. Check in at Nungwi Beach Resort by Turaco and enjoy a leisurely sunset walk.
Day 8: Leisure at Nungwi Beach
Enjoy a free day in Nungwi. Whether it’s beach lounging, visiting local shops, or enjoying fresh seafood — today is yours. You can also book optional catamaran cruises or spa treatments.
Day 9: Mnemba Dolphin Tour + Snorkeling
Rise early for a half-day excursion to Mnemba Atoll, one of the best snorkeling spots in Zanzibar. You may encounter dolphins along the way and will have the opportunity to snorkel in warm, clear waters teeming with marine life. Return to your hotel in time to relax before dinner.
Day 10: Departure
After breakfast, depending on your flight schedule, you will be transferred back to Zanzibar Airport for your departure. Karafuu ends with great memories of culture, coastlines, and connection.
