Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Your journey begins in a spectacular, dense rainforest. The trail is winding and lush, offering glimpses of exotic birds and monkeys. You will climb steadily until you break through the canopy at your first camp.

Leaving the trees behind, you'll hike up a steep ridge into the moorland zone. The Shira Plateau opens up before you, revealing panoramic, cloud-level views of the Kibo peak.

Arrive at camp to find your tent already set up by our crew. Freshen up at the hot water handwashing station before relaxing in your foldable camp chair to watch the sunset.

Shira 2 to Lava Tower and Barranco Camp
Today is vital for your acclimatization. You will trek up into the alpine desert to the imposing Lava Tower at 4,600m for lunch, before descending into the beautiful Barranco Valley, surrounded by giant Senecio plants.

The Property
Camp beneath the intimidating but beautiful Barranco Wall. Our chef will prepare a hot, nutritious dinner to help your body recover from the altitude gains.

Barranco to Karanga to Barafu Camp
Start the morning with a fun, non-technical scramble up the Barranco Wall. You will cross the Karanga Valley and push upward to Barafu Camp, a rocky, exposed ridge that serves as your launchpad for the summit.

This high-altitude base camp is stark and windy. After an early dinner in the mess tent, you'll retreat to your warm sleeping bag to rest before the midnight wake-up call.

Uhuru Peak to Millennium Camp
You will step out into the freezing midnight air and climb step-by-step toward the summit. Reaching Uhuru Peak as the sun rises over the African plains is a moment you will never forget. You will then descend all the way to Millennium Camp.
